Summer 2020 Aug. 24th

Dear RDH Members,

We, at Riverview Dekhockey, appreciate your patience while we navigate through these difficult times. After careful consideration,  we have decided to move forward and proceed with an upcoming season. Registration is open so please sign up at your earliest convenience so teams can be made in a timely manner.
With that being said, we will be holding open practices for each division on the following days:

PenguinMonday 8/3 & 8/10 @ 6:30pm
BeaverMonday 8/3 & 8/10 @ 7:45 pm
CadetTuesday 8/4 & 8/11 @ 6:30 pm

Games will begin the week of August 24th. Game days will be as follows:

Penguin – Mondays & Saturdays
Beaver – Tuesdays & Saturdays
Cadet – Thursdays & Saturdays

Game times will be based on the number of teams per division.

We will closely be monitoring any changes mandated by Allegheny County throughout the coming weeks and will keep everyone updated shall any changes be made per the County guidelines.
We will also be releasing guidelines that we will require everyone to follow while at the rink, for not only your safety and ours; but for the safety of our main priority, the players. A waiver form will also be released that will be required to be completed and submitted prior to your child entering the rink.
Once again, we appreciate your patience and look forward to seeing all on the rink!!

Thank you,
Riverview Dekhockey

Registration is open!

To our ball hockey families

To our ball hockey families,
I first and foremost hope you and your families are staying safe and healthy during these unprecedented times. I’m sure everyone has questions on when we can resume sports activities especially our beloved ball hockey. We are aware of the governor’s request to begin to slowly open up regions and are closely monitoring this along with our own individual municipalities. There’s still so much unknown around the rules around the reopening and what restrictions will still be in place to not only hold practices, but to begin close social activity. Even with the governor’s shift to reopen parts of our area, its still requires us to follow the rules of each municipality and continue 6 feet of social distancing which is required per CDC guidelines. This of course makes ball hockey very difficult to manage like most sports.
With this said, we will be holding a zoom conference call (scheduled shortly) with each member rep, from each DEK. I would ask for you to speak to your own individual rep in regards to questions or concerns you have, and we’ll do our best to answer all of these and send one recap to all members’ organizations. I know this is a hard time for everyone and we realize mostly how much it pains us not to be on the DEK with your kids each day, but we must do what’s best to keep everyone safe. Our #1 priority is to follow the guidelines we’re given so we can in fact get back to our normal lives and back to DEK hockey. Again, we will be back in contact once we hold our meeting and will update everyone on our discussions.

Spring 20′ RDH LET’S GO!!

As a youth sports organization that takes your kids health and our own and our communities health very seriously, we’ll continue to monitor the situation and follow any guidelines set forth by the City Of Pittsburgh and our Governor.

There has been no communication to youth athletics in regards to cancelling events or practices. Our events are not large gatherings and are under 250 people in size. However, as parents, you have the right to make that choice. You have the right to keep your child at home. With that’s said, below are proper precautions you and your kids can take when at the Dek or practice.

1.) Do not share drinks or water bottles.

2.). Kids should not share equipment or clothing.

3.) If your child has any symptoms of being sick, please keep your child at home. There is nothing more Important to us than your child’s well being.

We will continuously update you on any changes that we need to make prior to our in-house games start and properly adjust schedules in accordance to the direction given to us by our government or CDC. Our Spring 20 season is still moving forward with rosters and schedules are being released soon. I wish everyone a good day and stay safe and healthy! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.

Penguin A Tournament Champions in Penn Hills, PA

The Memorial Day Tournament this past weekend in Penn Hills, PA brought games that truly tested our Raptor All Star teams to the limit. The Penguin Raptors, being tested by a determined Brookline team, decided that limit was around 55 minutes when they delivered the GWG in a nail biting triple overtime. The day was hot but the slushes were cold, and our Penguin Raptors now understand why they do so much running in practice.

We are proud of the effort and sportsmanship from all of our Raptor All Star teams this past weekend, and would like to thank all of the players, coaches, and parents for being part of the Raptor family.

Some moments…

And the reason why we do this…

Hockey For Life Tournament

Our Hockey For Life Tournament will take place June 8-10th. If you are a team looking to register, go here.

This June will mark our 4th year participating in Oakmont’s Relay for Life. We are the only sports organization in the area that enters a team and helps raise money towards finding a cure. We are hoping that this year will be our best yet and we can meet all our goals with help from you! There are so many ways that you can help!

First, we are asking that each family donate (1) scratch of ticket to go towards a Lottery Basket that we will be raffling off. The more tickets we get, the bigger the basket and the more money it will raise for cancer research. Please turn your ticket into Ryan Rose, Mandy Rose or Rachel Breze by May 26th, 2018. We will also accept a cash donation to be used to purchase scratch off tickets.

Second, we could always use man power. We will need help setting up and dismantling the tent the day of the Relay. We will also need help staffing the tent. We intend on selling raffle tickets and t-shirts at our booth. If anyone has a free hour or so, let us know, we would love to have you down to help!

Third, you can purchase a t-shirt. We will have some on hand to sell the day of the Relay. We also have them available on our online store. Check them out, they are pretty awesome!

Finally, the biggest help of all, is donating! The more money raised means the closer we get to a cure. We all know someone who has been impacted by cancer. As an organization, we recently lost 2 wonderful women to this disease. We also have so many survivors, too. The best way to honor them is to help fight for a cure. You can purchase a Luminary. The form and instructions are provided. The Luminaries create such a beautiful and powerful display every year.

Download Luminary Form Here

We have also created a team page through the Relay For Life site. The team name is Riverview Dek Hockey, under Ryan Rose. Please join the team and start fundraising! You can also purchase a Luminary from the team page.
